There’s something in the air at Western University. With only 5 days until first year students arrive and orientation week starts, the seemingly empty campus is buzzing. Student councils are training executives, Sophs are choreographing dances, RAs are creating name cards for dorm doors, and residence councils are planning events. Upper year students, professors, residence staff, cafeteria chefs and servers, maintenance staff, (and the geese), are all waiting in the calm before the storm that is September. There is a sense of community and a mutual purpose: we are all here to make the transition for first years as smooth as possible. We want them to have a blast this year, and the activities, songs, and cheers of O Week are just the start.
I personally am beyond excited for the things Residence Council has been planning and prepping for the year to come, and can’t wait until it starts this Sunday. It’s going to be a busy year, but it’s going to be a great year.
